Road Closure
University Avenue between Thomas Street and Johansen Expressway and Geist Road is CLOSED to through traffic. This CLOSURE is expected to last into November.
What You Need to Know
- Local and business access will be maintained through the construction zone. Right turns will be permitted from Thomas Street onto University Avenue toward Farmers Loop Road.
- Access for residents and businesses on Sandvik Street and Dead End Alley will be restricted to High School Access Road and/or College Road.
- Pedestrians and cyclists should follow posted DETOUR routes.
Project End Result
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, in partnership with Great Northwest, Inc., is working to widen and reconstruct the intersection of University Avenue and Geist Road/Johansen Expressway. University Avenue will also be repaved between Thomas Street and Wolf Run. We will do our best to keep you informed as work progresses and appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction.
