Road Closure

University Avenue is CLOSED between Airport Way and Rewak Drive.

University Avenue is CLOSED between Airport Way and Goldizen Avenue. 

The Chena River Bridge on University Avenue is CLOSED. Please follow the posted pedestrian and vehicle DETOUR ROUTES. 

What You Need to Know
  • Drivers should be aware of ONE-LANE TRAFFIC in both directions on Airport Way.
  • Please follow the reduced speed limits in the construction zone. 
  • Pedestrians will be able to access the project area. Please follow pedestrian signage to ensure safe travels through the construction project. 
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Great Northwest Inc., is working to reconstruct University Avenue and Airport Way. Work will include installing water, sewer and storm drain utilities, as well as upgrading communication, lighting and signal systems. Crews will also be upgrading pedestrian sidewalks and repaving road surfaces. We will do our best to keep you informed of any project updates and appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction. This project is expected to be complete in October 2020.
