Traffic Impacts

Over the duration of this project, drivers can expect to encounter a combination of ROAD CLOSURES with DETOUR ROUTES and one-lane traffic, as well as PILOT CAR and flagging operations.

Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working to resurface the Old Richardson Highway from the Richardson Highway on/off ramps to Cushman Street, Easy Street from the Old Richardson Highway to the Fairbanks North Star Borough landfill, including a segment of Sanduri Street, and South Peger Road from Van Horn Road to the wastewater treatment plant. Work includes new pavement, striping, and signage, as well as an upgraded railroad crossing on South Peger Road. We will do our best to keep you informed of any project updates and appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction. This project is expected to be complete by October 2021.

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
