What You Need to Know
  • Expected to last through the end of September, crews will be working double shifts. During the daytime drivers should expect DELAYS from 7:00am to 5:00pm, and again at night from 7:00pm to 5:00am.
  • Drivers should be aware of a NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN at Glacier Creek (MP 89.7) with a temporary DETOUR in place. Please be aware of reduced speeds of 35 MPH through the work zone. 
  • Please drive with caution and follow all posted signs.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in partnership with Granite Construction, is working to improve road conditions on the Seward Highway from MP 75 to 90. Upgrades will include road resurfacing, road realignment, passing lanes, drainage improvements, shore protection improvements, and pedestrian facilities. This project will also include new bridges at Glacier, Virgin and Peterson Creeks, and the rehabilitation of the Ingram Creek bridge.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
