What You Need to Know
  • Drivers should expect a temporary bridge to be constructed at Quartz Creek bridge on Quartz Creek Road, at approximately MP 0.7.
  • Crews will be performing grading operations, and installing drainage, signage and striping.  
  • Drivers should expect reduced speeds, limited visibility, and flagging operations. Motorists and pedestrians should expect short delays while traveling through the project. 
Traffic Impacts

A temporary, two-lane bridge will be constructed to convey traffic during the new bridge construction.

Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Tutka, LLC, is working to replace the existing Quartz Creek bridge at approximately 0.7 miles down Quartz Creek Road in Cooper Landing. The new, two-lane bridge will have increased hydraulic capacity, riprap scour protection, and improved sight distance, with widened approaches, guardrail, and other safety features. Crews will also be performing grading operations, and installing drainage, signage and striping.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
