What You Need to Know
  • No work is expected on Pioneer Avenue until the Sterling Highway and Main Street intersection is complete.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Southcentral Construction, is working to resurface Pioneer Avenue from the Sterling Highway to the intersection of Lake Street and East End Road. Work will include installing drainage, ADA pedestrian improvements, paving, signing, and striping. Work in 2019 will include installing temporary paving on Pioneer Avenue in the fall, prior to project work beginning in spring 2020. Work is expected to be complete in November 2020.

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers

  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
