What You Need to Know
  • Please be alert to roadwork on Vine Road at the Parks Highway.
  • Be alert to reduced lane widths, gravel surface, and flaggers at Sylvan Road and Parks Highway and Vine Road intersection.
  • Please be alert to flagging operations from 7:00am to 7:00pm from MP 44.5 to 48.5. Reduced speeds of 45 MPH will be enforced, please drive with caution and obey all posted signs.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working with Knik Construction to upgrade the Parks Highway. Upon completion, the Parks Highway, between MP 44.5 to 48.8, will be reconstructed from a two-lane highway to a four-lane divided highway, a new bridge will be installed at MP 46.5, continuous lighting and new signals will be installed at Church Road, Stanley Road, Vine Road and Pittman Road. This project is scheduled to be complete by August 2017.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
