OLD AIRPORT ROAD RESURFACING ROAD CONSTRUCTION through October
Road Closure

Beginning early Monday morning, August 12th, Parks-bound traffic on the Mitchell Expressway will be allowed to travel through the University Avenue intersection to the Fairbanks Int'l Airport Exit ramp. Old Airport Road will be open. 

What You Need to Know
  • Expected to begin Friday, August 9 through Monday, August 12, crews will be working on repairing culverts in the area. Drivers should expect DELAYS and LANE CLOSURES. 
  • Construction dates are subject to change. Please pay attention to message boards for updated information.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working to resurface Old Airport Road between the Mitchell Expressway off-ramp and the intersection at Fred Meyer. Work will include installing roadside hardware, ADA improvements, and pavement preservation as well as upgrading drainage, intersections and utilities. This project is expected to be complete in October 2019.

  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
