  • Drivers should expect PILOT CAR and/or flagging operations with DELAYS up to 20 minutes.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working to replace, repair and stabilize highway embankments adjacent to the Lowe River and Valdez Glacier Stream between MP 1 to 16 of the Richardson Highway. Upgrades include culvert replacements, asphalt resurfacing and striping. We will do our best to keep you informed of any project updates and appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction. This project is expected to be completed in December 2018.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
