What You Need to Know
ROAD CLOSURE: Access to Haugen Drive from Nordic Drive is CLOSED. Please use Gioa Street to 1st Street and follow construction signs for DETOUR routes. During this time, there will be NO PARKING on either side of Nordic Drive from South Harbor to Sing Lee Alley, and NO PARKING on either side of Nordic from Haugen Drive to Lumber Street.
- There is no work scheduled from Thursday, May 19 through Sunday, May 22.
- Be alert to flagging operations and REDUCED SPEED LIMITS on Nordic Drive between Sing Lee Alley and Lumber Street from 6:00am to 12:00am. Please use caution when traveling through the project area.
Please reduce your speeds and be aware of pedestrians, construction workers and heavy equipment in and out of the traffic lanes. As always speeding fines are doubled in all construction areas. There will be flaggers posted to direct you through the zone safely.
Project End Result
The Alaska Department of Transportation is working with Secon to improve Haugen Drive and S Nordic Drive. Upon completion, there will be new sidewalks from Nordic Drive to 12th Street and from Haugen Drive to the Ferry Terminal along South Nordic Drive and a new pedestrian pathway from the Airport to Sandy Beach Road. This project is scheduled to be complete by September 2016.
