What You Need to Know
- The northbound lanes are CLOSED for overpass construction. Northbound traffic will be DETOURED into the southbound lanes until the project is complete. A reduced speed limit with double fines is in effect from Eielson Farm Road through Laurance Road. Please slow down through the DETOUR.
- In observance of the Independence Day holiday, no work is expected to occur from Saturday, July 4 through Sunday, July 5. The northbound DETOUR will still be in effect.
Traffic Impacts
During spring and summer of 2015, the Richardson Highway southbound lanes will accommodate two-way traffic. The northbound lanes will be CLOSED for overpass construction. Northbound traffic will be DETOURED into the southbound lanes until project completion.
Project End Result
The Alaska Department of Transportation, in partnership with HC Contractors, Inc., will be constructing a highway overpass to replace the existing railroad crossing near Moose Creek (Richardson Highway MP 345). Planned improvements include two separate overpass bridges, a new approach to the Moose Creek access road, and recontruction of an existing median.
