KETCHIKAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, LAYUP and FREIGHT FACILITIES ROAD CONSTRUCTION through July
What You Need to Know
  • Crews are working from 6:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Saturday and occasional Sundays.
  • Crews are constructing layup and freight facilities on the shoreline south of the Ketchikan International Airport. Drivers should expect potential minor DELAYS as equipment is being moved from in and out of the project site.
  • Drivers should be alert to traffic control devices and narrow roadways.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with BAM, is working to improve the Ketchikan International Airport including layup and freight facilities. This project is expected to be complete in July 2023.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
