What You Need to Know

  • Be alert to nightly LANE RESTRICTIONS and flagging operations from 8:00pm to 6:00am as final paving of approaches, sidewalks and striping continues. 
  • Thanks for your patience as QAP and DOT work to finish the project this season.

Traffic Impacts

During culvert replacement, lanes will be reduced to one lane each direction 24 hours a day. Detours will be in place for some of the work. Reduced speeds and flagging operations will be in effect for detours. Night work will be used for asphalt planing and paving.

Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working with QAP to preserve the pavement of the Kenai Spur Highway from MP 8 to 12.4. Upon completion, the project area will be repaved, there will be new fish-passage culverts under the roadway, new curb ramps and improvements to pedestrian pathways will be made. This project is scheduled to be complete by September 2017.

From the Project Engineer

Paving will continue this week, wrapping up with the Project paved from MP 8 to Bridge Access. Temporary pavement marking will be delineating lanes until permanent striping operations at the end of next week start.
