What You Need to Know
  • Crews are working at the intersection of the Sterling Highway and Main Street, daily from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
  • Crews are installing signal poles and signals.
  • Drivers should expect flagging operations and short DELAYS.
  • This project is expected to move into winter shutdown by Christmas.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Southcentral Construction, is working to reconstruct the intersection of the Sterling Highway and Main Street to install signals. Work will include, grading, drainage, paving, signing, striping, installing ADA compliant facilities, and lighting. The intersection will include 4-way signals with turn lanes, ADA curb ramps, drainage improvements, and a new paved surface. Work is expected to be complete in December 2019.

  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
