- From Thursday, May 26 at 7:00pm to Wednesday, June 1 at 7:00am, there will be no traffic restrictions in observance of Memorial Day. Drivers should continue to expect a reduced speed limit of 45 MPH, and the center line concrete barrier will remain in place.
- On Wednesday, May 18 from 9:30am to 4:00pm, expect MAJOR DELAYS as traffic cannot pass while the helicopter has a load suspended.
- Drivers should expect 24-hour traffic restrictions from 7:00pm on Sunday through 7:00am on Saturday.
- Be aware of flagging operations and reduced speeds of 45 MPH.
- Be alert to temporary rockfall protection and a concrete barrier on the centerline of the roadway.
The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Hi-Tech Rockfall Construction Inc., is performing stabilization work to mitigate rockfall sites along the Seward Highway between Anchorage and Girdwood. This is a multi-year project to address the highest potential rockfall areas between Anchorage and Girdwood. This project is expected to be complete in July 2023.
