What You Need to Know
  • Drivers should be alert to temporary rockfall protection and a concrete barrier on the centerline of the roadway, as well as reduced speeds of 45 MPH on the Seward Highway from MP 112.5 to 114.6.
  • Be aware of 24 hour flagging operations from 9:00pm Sunday through noon Friday.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Hi-Tech Rockfall Construction Inc., is performing stabilization work to mitigate rockfall sites along the Seward Highway between Anchorage and Girdwood. This is a multi-year project to address the highest potential rockfall areas between Anchorage and Girdwood. This project is expected to be complete in July 2023.
