GRAEHL PARK BIKE PATH ROAD CONSTRUCTION through September
What You Need to Know
  • The stairs are CLOSED and lower Graehl Park path is CLOSED from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Expect limited access.
  • Construction crews are working to install pedestrian railing this week. 
Traffic Impacts

Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal. Pedestrians in the area should be alert to construction crews and signs. Parking on Front Street will be limited due to construction equipment. Please be mindful of construction activities and stay a safe distance from working equipment.

Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working in cooperation with Great Northwest, Inc to construct a bike and pedestrian path in the Graehl Park area. Upon completion this pathway will be ADA compliant and connect the Steese Expressway to Front Street. This project is scheduled to be complete by September 2017.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
