FARMERS LOOP ROAD RECONSTRUCTION ROAD CONSTRUCTION through October
What You Need to Know
  • Beginning Monday, April 23, work on Farmers Loop will resume near Ballaine Road to Viewpointe Drive.
  • Expect pavement breaks, loose gravel and PILOT CAR operations, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 10:00pm. 
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working in cooperation with Exclusive Paving to freshly pave street surfaces, improve lighting, traffic signals and drainage. The 2017 construction season included installing a signal interconnect system from College Road/University Avenue intersection to Ballaine Road intersection, and resurface Farmers Loop and adjoining bike path from College Road/University Avenue intersection to Ballaine Road intersection.  The 2018 construction season will see the complete resurfacing of Farmers Loop and bike path from Ballaine Road intersection to Steese Highway.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
