What You Need to Know
  • Crews are working at the intersection of Illinois Street, College Road, and Bentley Trust Road.
  • The right-turn lane from Illinois Street and College Road is being reconstructed into a new traffic configuration. Please be aware of crews working in the construction zone and special detours for pedestrians.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working at various locations throughout the Fairbanks area. Work includes reconstructing right-turn ramps to improve sight distance, upgrading traffic signals and installing roadside hardware at multiple intersections. Crews will work on Ramp A, westbound Johansen Expressway/northbound College Road, Ramp B, eastbound Johansen Expressway/southbound College Road, Ramp C, eastbound Johansen Expressway/southbound Peger Road and Ramp D, northbound Illinois Street/southbound College Road. This project is expected to be complete in December 2020.

  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers

  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
