Project End Result
The Alaska Department of Transportation is working with Secon to improve the safety at the Egan Drive and Salmon Creek Intersection. Upon completion, a new acceleration lane that spans approximately 1,200 feet long will be constructed for vehicles entering the outbound lanes of Egan Drive from the Glacier Highway, and the existing deceleration lane will be extended for a total lane length of 900 feet for vehicles exiting the inbound lanes of Egan Drive to Channel Drive. Additionally, shoulders will also be widened to 9 feet, the Salmon Creek Bridge (bridge No. 1188) just north of this intersection will be widened on both sides to accommodate the additional lanes and widened shoulders. The additional lanes will require the relocation of a signal pole, a self-supporting power pole, and luminaries adjacent to the acceleration lanes, and other related appurtenances. This project is scheduled to be complete by September 2016.
