What You Need to Know
  • Through September 10, segments of the pathway along the south side of Benson Boulevard between Minnesota Drive and Arctic Boulevard will be CLOSED.
  • Pedestrians and bicyclists should cross Benson Boulevard at Minnesota Drive, Spenard Road or Arctic Boulevard and use the facilities on the north side of the road. This DETOUR will be in place intermittently throughout the project.
  • Drivers should expect intermittent LANE RESTRICTIONS.
Project End Result

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, in cooperation with Mass Excavation, Inc., is working to rehabilitate the pathway on the south side of Benson Boulevard between Minnesota Drive and Arctic Boulevard. Project work will include pathway realignment for improved safety, new pavement and ADA curb ramp upgrades.

Safety in all construction zones:

  • Traffic fines are double
  • Watch for changing driving surfaces
  • Watch for reduced speed limits
  • Be alert to and follow directions of flaggers
  • Drive with headlights on
  • Allow additional time when traveling
  • Watch for equipment and workers
