What You Need to Know
- Beginning Saturday morning, May 2, be alert to LANE CLOSURES, possible flagging operations with reduced speeds as crews work to establish crossover areas, changing traffic patterns and construction equipment in the roadway and shoulder, Monday through Saturday, from 7:00am to 5:30pm.
- Once established, the northbound lanes will be CLOSED for overpass construction. Northbound traffic will be DETOURED into the southbound lanes until the project is complete.
During spring and summer of 2015, the Richardson Highway southbound lanes will accommodate two-way traffic. The northbound lanes will be CLOSED for overpass construction. Northbound traffic will be DETOURED into the southbound lanes until project completion.
Project End Result
The Alaska Department of Transportation, in partnership with HC Contractors, Inc., will be constructing a highway overpass to replace the existing railroad crossing near Moose Creek (Richardson Highway MP 345). Planned improvements include two separate overpass bridges, a new approach to the Moose Creek access road, and recontruction of an existing median.
