ROAD CLOSURE: The Kenai Spur Highway is CLOSED from Spruce Avenue to Forest Drive (MP 12) until approximately Monday, August 15 due to culvert installation. Please follow construction signs and flaggers for DETOUR routes to Spruce Avenue, 4th Avenue and back onto the Kenai Spur Highway.

• Pedestrian traffic may be detoured during construction of the pedestrian pathway.

During culvert replacement, lanes will be reduced to one lane each direction 24 hours a day. Detours will be in place for some of the work. Reduced speeds and flagging operations will be in effect for detours. Night work will be used for asphalt planing and paving.

The Alaska Department of Transportation is working with QAP to preserve the pavement of the Kenai Spur Highway from MP 8 to 12.4. Upon completion, the project area will be repaved, there will be new fish-passage culverts under the roadway, new curb ramps and improvements to pedestrian pathways will be made. This project is scheduled to be complete by September 2017.
