What You Need to Know
- Be alert to flagging and PILOT CAR operations with minor DELAYS between MP 257 and the Ft. Greely main gate, Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 7:00pm.
- Be alert to Saturday shoulder work.
- Traffic fines are now double within the work zone, with reduced speed limits of 45MPH in areas where pavement has been removed.
Traffic Impacts
Beginning late April 2015, be alert to uneven lanes, alternating SINGLE-LANE TRAFFIC with PILOT CAR operations, minor DELAYS and temporary LANE RESTRICTIONS.
Project End Result
The Alaska Department of Transportation, in partnership with Great Northwest, Inc., is working to construct a new roadway on the Richardson Highway from MP 257 to MP 265. Planned improvements include replacing the existing Jarvis Creek bridge with a bulb-T concrete girder bridge along a new alignment, grade raises to reduce drifting, roadway widening to include 8' shoulders, resurfacing the full length of the roadway, new signage, striping and edge line rumble strips.
